Background pattern

Modernised IT infrastructure, enhancing scalability, security, and compliance across multiple jurisdictions

Belasko is a corporate and fiduciary services provider, delivering tailored financial solutions across Guernsey, Jersey, the UK, and Luxembourg.

Overview

Belasko’s Vision and the Challenges They Faced

Belasko, a corporate and fiduciary services provider, had a clear vision for growth. With offices in Guernsey, Jersey, the UK, and Luxembourg, they were scaling rapidly and aimed to deliver the same high standard of service across all jurisdictions. However, their existing IT infrastructure posed significant challenges that threatened to hinder their progress:

  1. Limited Scalability: Their on-premises, multi-tenant setup was a bottleneck, making it difficult to open new offices or expand teams efficiently.
  2. Compliance Complexities: Regulatory requirements from governing bodies such as the JFSC and FCA were increasingly hard to meet without a secure, segmented network.
  3. Operational Inefficiencies: Existing systems struggled to support remote working and rapid growth, creating risks to business continuity during disruptions like COVID-19.

Belasko needed a technology partner who could help them overcome these challenges, ensuring their IT infrastructure aligned with their growth ambitions.

Solution

A Clear Plan for Transformation

Belasko turned to Kerv for their expertise and strategic insight. Rather than simply providing a one-size-fits-all solution, Kerv approached the challenge by thoroughly understanding Belasko’s unique needs and long-term goals.

Kerv’s role was to guide Belasko through a transformation that would eliminate the constraints of their existing systems and empower them to grow with confidence. Kerv devised a bespoke action plan to address Belasko’s challenges while preparing them for future growth.

  1. Migration to Microsoft Azure:
Belasko’s IT environment was migrated to a flexible, cloud-based infrastructure that met the stringent compliance requirements of multiple regulators.
  2. Seamless Implementation:
The migration was executed with zero downtime, ensuring business continuity throughout the process.
  3. Standardised Device Setups:
Bespoke laptop builds were rolled out across all offices, enabling secure and efficient onboarding for new starters.
  4. Enhanced Cybersecurity Measures:
Kerv secured Belasko’s IT environment with:

    • Microsoft Defender for identity and cloud security.
    • A 24/7 managed SIEM service powered by Microsoft Sentinel.
    • Citrix for secure desktops, Mimecast for email security, and Webroot for endpoint protection.
  5. Ongoing Staff Training:
Kerv provide tailored cybersecurity training to ensure Belasko’s team could identify and respond to emerging threats.

Outcomes

Kerv’s partnership with Belasko delivered transformative results. By moving to Microsoft Azure, Belasko gained the ability to scale rapidly and seamlessly, growing from 30 to over 130 employees across four jurisdictions. The transition to a cloud-based infrastructure optimised operational efficiency, reduced costs, and enhanced collaboration, enabling the business to onboard new team members swiftly and maintain consistent performance.

Regulatory compliance was another critical achievement, with the new infrastructure meeting stringent requirements set by bodies such as the JFSC and FCA. Moreover, the migration ensured resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing Belasko to maintain uninterrupted service to clients.

Supported by proactive reviews and regular strategic alignment, Kerv has positioned Belasko for sustained growth and success in an increasingly complex operational landscape.
