The Joy of Judging at a Nonprofit Hackathon: A Truly Rewarding Experience

Serving as a judge at the recent Kerv Digital Nonprofit Hackathon was a unique and fulfilling experience. It wasn’t simply about evaluating technical prowess or selecting the best projects, but was about witnessing the remarkable passion, creativity, and innovation that individuals brought with them to tackle real-world challenges. Watching participants collaborate under pressure was nothing short of inspiring.

What made the Hackathon so special was the laser focus of the teams on addressing issues presented to them. As a judge, my role went far beyond just assessing technology; it was about looking at the potential for genuine, lasting impact from the solutions presented to me. It was incredible for me to see how diverse teams comprising of professionals, and even first-time participants were united with a shared goal of making a difference through technology.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of being a judge was the opportunity to engage with the participants. Listening to their ideas, hearing their thought processes, and seeing how they approached problem-solving was incredibly enriching.
