This January, we were thrilled to see a seasoned Kerver, Rob Meehan, take a new role as our Consultancy practice’s Managing Director!
We’re so proud of Rob’s career journey at Kerv, from starting at our Digital Transformation practice, and, now, leading our Consultancy practice.
I sat down with Rob to learn a bit more about his journey at Kerv, and to get to know him more. Let’s dive in!
Tell us a bit about yourself!
“I’m really excited to lead a practice of talented individuals and fulfil what I see as a real gap in the market to offer industry outcome focused consultancy, backed by the wider Kerv which gives us access to both tech agnostic advisory services, and deep technical expertise when needed. I love technology and helping organisations achieve their potential, so this role is a perfect match for me.”
What does being MD at Kerv entail?
“As Managing Director of Kerv Consult, my focus will be on building on the great work the team already does to ensure we make it really clear to the market what exceptional outcomes we can deliver through independent, client-side consultancy services. We want to focus on helping organisations deliver complex programmes, manage change and ensure service management through advisory services. This helps to ensure technology transformations are designed, delivered, and adopted in a way that achieves measurable business results. A big part of my role will also be about shaping the future of Kerv Consult and moving us into the next phase of growth by building our brand and awareness in our key industries.”
What is your favourite/most important Kerv value?
“It’s hard to pick just one, but I’d have to say “Team is everything”. I would not be in a position to do this role justice without having learned from so many amazing people across Kerv. I’ve been given opportunities to oversee deliveries, get creative on campaigns and debate the best way to reach clients with Solution Architects, fellow Marketing professionals and some of the other amazing MDs over the years. Without learning from such a broad group of amazing people, I would never have even thought to apply for this role! It’s a value I’ll continue to champion at Kerv Consult as we build our team out and create opportunities for people to go on to achieve whatever they set their mind to in their careers.”
What do you do outside of work?
“I love to play the drums – I used to be a in rock band in my youth but don’t get to play so much any more. I also love movies and am a big horror/sci fi film fan. I did also used to do some amateur dramatics with my wife, and won an award for my acting at the local theatre where I live!
Besides that, IÂ love music festivals and to travel, I try to go to Glastonbury every year – but with our first child on the way, we will be taking a hiatus for a little while!”
Who would you invite to dinner if you could invite anyone?
“A slightly odd choice but probably Arnold Schwarzenegger. I would need a bigger chair but I think the fact he has essentially has three successful careers in bodybuilding, also being that driven to succeed three times over, while sticking by his values and standing up for what he believes in, is inspiring. Plus, he could tell me loads of behind the scenes stories about Predator and Batman.”
How has your first few months as an MD been like at Kerv?
“A big learning curve but very rewarding – I’ve really enjoyed getting to know the team, and work out the strategy. As will all things, you dont want to change too much too quickly, but I really feel at home and like we are on a journey together – I cant wait to see some of the early activities we’ve put into motion start to pay off.”
Tell us about your career at Kerv, why did you make this change from Kerv’s Digital Transformation practice to Kerv’s Consultancy practice?
“Kerv Digital and Kerv Consult share a core belief in helping organisations achieve success, but we approach it from different angles. Kerv Consult focuses on equipping the client themselves with the skills and resources to define and oversee a transformation programme which may include multiple technical solutions. Kerv Digital delivers those technology solutions as a supplier into the client, it’s a subtle but really important distinction. The synergy comes from a shared commitment to achieving outcomes: where Digital brings deep tech expertise and large delivery teams, Kerv Consult ensures client is set up to deal with the transformation internally before, during and after delivery. Â
I loved my time at Kerv Digital and I believe that time working supplier side on implementations helps me gain an understanding of how to set clients up for success through client-side resources to ensure clients retain control and can adopt big changes in technology”
Lastly, Kerv recently launched a new Impact Report. What do you think about Kerv’s Sustainability Mission, how do you incorporate this into your day-to-day role?
“Sustainability is really important to me. I avoided saying it in my ‘fun facts’ section but I am a vegan and try to minimize my impact on the environment in my personal life, while I don’t expect anyone else to adjust their diet, I do think part of the motivation to come to work should be knowing you are making society better, in some small way. Working at Kerv and enabling people to be truly their authentic selves, and recognise how what they do affects the wider community is hugely motivating and rewarding for me. I think it makes us better as a consultancy also.”
We are excited to have Rob as an MD at Kerv and look forward to the positive impact he will undoubtedly bring to Kerv’s consultancy offering. Go, Rob!
