Dellner Glass Solutions’ Digital Transformation with Kerv

Overview

Dellner Glass Solutions (DGS) design and develop bespoke fabrication and glazing solutions for Vehicles including Aerospace vehicles, Rail, Metro, Bus and Coaches.

DGS needed a partner to support their upgrade from an unsupported instance of AX 2012 to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management (D365F&SCM).

Dellner Romag (DR) a sister company of DGS also needed to be consolidated into the same D365 Instance as DGS, moving away from their Sage and Glass Office solutions, to form a single entity.

Kerv’s agile RAPID delivery methodology swiftly delivered discovery workshops to facilitate the creation of a Requirement Traceability Matrix RTMRTMRTM to enable DGS to clearly understand the scope of work involved in the upgrade and implementation of another business.

Key factors for transformation

  • With AX 2012 nearing end of life support, DGS required a partner that not only had the experience in migrating the existing platform to D365 F&SCM but a partner that could also deal with complex  customisations in legacy software.
  • The business needed to ensure their partner could not only carry out the migration to a Cloud solution, but also support their business in future projects to further utilise the Microsoft Dynamics 365 stack.
  • Kerv, based on both their experience and RAPID delivery method, were chosen as the selected partner to assist with their Cloud migration.
  • With innovation from Microsoft, Dellner are ensuring their place as a company utilising latest technology in industrial Al, bringing substantial benefits to the business and daily operations.

Following a series of Discovery workshops, DGS and Kerv were able to identify functionality that could be migrated to D365 F&SCM and recommend enhancements to increase various process efficiencies, whilst also highlighting specific requirements required for DR that were needed immediately to form part of the Minimal Viable Product.

Key objectives & success factors

  • Migration to future future-proofed platform.
  • Delivery of MVP solution using Kerv’s RAPID delivery method to ensure Dellner Glass Solution can start utilising the software within a short period of time.
  • Dellner Glass Solutions have been able to adopt lean  manufacturing processes through greater visibility of Production Resource and accurate Capacity Planning capabilities.
  • Knowledge transfer throughout the project to enable Dellner Glass Solutions to become self-sufficient. The consolidation into a single ERP solution has been pivotal in providing insight into overall business performance.
  • Merging of two business entities into a single entity & platform within a short timeframe.
  • Migration to Cloud based solution to reduce the management of, and risks of an on-premise solution.
  • With a Microsoft CRM, Power BI and D365 F&O, solutions were integrated and scalable with ease.

Benefits

  • Having separate Finance and Production systems meant lots of manual reconciliation between DGS and DR. Since the deployment the business now has “one version of the truth” with a holistic view across the business in real-time.
  • Previously spending half the month doing the month-endup process, which has been dramatically reduced since the deployment of D365.
